Individual Psychotherapy
I offer one-to-one therapy sessions to adults (18+).
Sessions are 50-minutes long and usually weekly unless agreed otherwise.
I work predominantly with professionals and academics in mid-life (mid-life is a wide-ranging band related to own experience rather than age).
I work with a breadth of therapeutic needs, with a lense of self-discovery and actualisation.
My main specialisms are as seen in the front page.
The first session is an assessment to ascertain whether this therapy is for you and for both of us to decide if we can work together.
As I work in depth, most of my therapeutic work is medium and long term and this is reflected in the goals of therapy.
The direction may also change along the way as awareness deepens.
In Transactioanal Analysis this is called the 'therapeutic contract' and it is an agreement between client and therapist about the goals of therapy. The contract helps us both work ethically and safely and to notice and reflect changes along the way towards your ultimate goal.
The process of therapy is rarely linear and the length of the work can vary depending on personal needs, desires and resources.
You are welcome to book an initial assessment session with no requirement to proceed unless you decide it is right for you.

Integrative Humanistic Relational Psychotherapy
Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy is predominantly conversational and focused on the client.
The therapeutic relationship is evidenced to be of great value and a significant factor to the success of therapy.
The therapists's role is to support the client to gain awareness of themselves and their situation as well as gain resources to make changes in your life. In this modality, the client is an active participant of their therapy. The therapy is not done 'to' the client but with the client.
The therapist offers unconditional positive regard and will not judge.
The client is welcome and encouraged to discuss with the therapist any aspect of the therapeutic relationship, and this can be hugely important and transformational; the therapeutic relationship is unique in this way. The therapist does not give advice but she will be alongside you, exploring the options. Sometimes she may give you some explanation or information. Therapy is not always pleasant of easy. Like a treatment, one needs to tolerarate the therapy to get a positive outcome. Like a chrysallis, the client may be in the dark for some time, feeling sad and grieving, or angry and despaired, not being certain of the way forward. The therapist lends hope and believes in the client's ability to heal themselves and move towards life and growth, nurturing and holding, and at time challenging.
